Cashmere is my favorite needlepoint stitch. Because it’s rectangular, it can be varied in many ways. Giant Cashmere can refer to any version of this stitch that is larger than usual.
This patch in Yoshigire uses Giant Cashmeres that are 4 threads high and 7 threads long.
The stitch units are arranged so that the columns are made up of stitch units packed on top of each other. This creates a gridded background with strong horizontal and vertical lines. Because the individual stitch units are rectangular, the grid feeling is not quite as strong as it would be with square stitches, such as Giant Scotch.
If you like Cashmeres and want to explore more variations of them, try my Craftsman Trees sampler ($12, buy it here) or 25 Cashmere Stitches ($27.50, buy it here). Both are 20% off through October 31.
When you buy using PayPal before the end of October, you will get the discount refunded to you.
