As part of a Google project on Arts & Culture the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is participating in the project. They have created an amazing and rich website.
From here you can explore so many things, including exhibits from their partners (many other museums), historic garments (including a bodice of Elizabeth I), and get a tour of their conservation lab.
Their are articles about historic textiles, color, icons, and trends.
You could spend days here and not see everything!
