Recently I received one of Puffin & Co’s scissors pals as a gift. There lots about these to like and one huge problem that prevented me from using it.
The pals are made from the same mixed metals as their needleminders and they have the same great style. The pals are available in many different designs so it’s easy to coordinate.
The lobster clasp to attach the Pal to your scissors is large with the Pal connected to it by a short length of colored rayon cord.
So far so good.
The Problem
The Pal was held onto the packaging card by two rather large drops of glue, one for the Pal and one for the clasp. I have used many other Puffin & Co products in the past and never had a problem.
The Pal was glued onto the card so strongly that it was only by being extremely careful that I was able to get it off. The thin metal could easily bend during this process.
Even though I got it off the card, glue remained on the back of the Pal and needed to be removed with some difficulty by hand.
I was not so lucky with the clasp. Getting it off the card and the glue resulted in breaking the arm of the clasp, do it could not be used.
I have used Puffin & Co products since the company began and never had any problems.
Because this was a gift I don’t know how old the packaging was, but I was very disappointed by this.

Janet, I also had a problem with an item from puffin and co. It was also a gift. I contacted the owner for advice on how to fix it and she told me to send it back. Within two weeks I had a perfect replacement. Great customer service. So look on her website and send her an email. She really cares about her customers.

Puffin is a wonderful company and so responsive to questions and problems. They did a custom scissor minder/counting pin set for our closing banquet favor at EGA National Seminar in 2014….used our logo and worked with us in making it unique. It was specially packaged as a unit for us. Can’t say enough good words…and they use cottage industries for production. If you have a problem, just let them know and they work to correct it and prevent future problems.
