Last Sunday I worked on the kitty Snow Day but mostly on details because I couldn’t find the thread for the snow. It’s not very exciting.
During the week I started two projects that demonstrate another stash principle — Use the threads you have! This principle was my first introduction to stash stitching and I still shop my stash first for any project.
Now my stash is very big, but even if your stash is small, you’ll find bits and pieces of threads to reuse.
The Pink Jewel pictured above, is the February project for the iconographic Needlepoint Club. The design is small and can be stitched in six threads of one color and in varying textures. This took about three hours to stitch. I’m finishing it up today.
The design was created from am icon, or small drawing, that was traced onto the canvas. You can still get in on the fun by signing up through this post.
My other project is the sampler for 25 Laid Stitches. Based on a quilt block, I pulled many blue threads for it.
You can take this class by signing up through this post.
I love to pick threads for projects from my stash. It’s a delightful challenge to find threads that are the right color and texture to work in the piece. If you have never done stash stitching — try it!
