I did manage to go through the UFO Chest last week and managed to liberate several canvases, thumbtacks, and project bags. The next step is to get days with enough sun (a rare thing these days) to take pictures for the sale on Etsy.
Of course the UFO’s are just the tip of the iceberg. My unstitched canvas piles are getting very big as well. My purchasing has not slowed down, but my stitching speed has slowed down considerably. I feel as if it takes twice as long to get anything finished.
It’s so frustrating.I have a project I’m hoping I finish tomorrow but behind it (in the immediate do NOW pile are 4 more, and more right behind that.
I’d love suggestions: what do you do about big stash and/or slow stitching?

I read your comment with big smile on my face. I am currently involved in organizing, neatening and downsizing my place and have not reached my needlework bins filled with WIPS, canvasses, tools and lots more. Have not even thought about the needlework books on my shelves.
Have to think about what caused me to temporarily set aside some WIPS or not begin a specific project. To acknowledge that some of my stored items can bring joy to others if I ‘discard’ them, is a big plus. Silk gauze, beautiful thread, pretty canvases and fabrics, special tools, fascinating patterns, interesting books… It is not like choosing which of our children I love the most. It is more like sharing few special items with others.
What caused you to temporarily set aside a specific project? Your comments, without doubt, might help others evaluate their own stashes and make some choices in our lives.
As usual, I wish you well. Like a wonderful Pier Piper, you continually guide others to follow your lead.
Thanks again for just being you!

As I become aware of all you do…every day…I very much doubt that you have become a “slower stitcher”… just saying……………

I recently went through the pile and I sent off to a seller on Needlepoint Stash board to get rid of things I knew I would never stitch. It is a relief to not having those canvases taunting me any longer. I actually feel better about I what I kept and want to stitch. I truly will not be buying willy nilly any longer.

I usually set aside a project because a higher priority project takes its place. When that happens I tend to leave it in the bag by my stitching chair. After awhile that pile gets too big and I go through it and put the ones I’ve set aside into the wicker chest.
I will also put things aside because I didn’t pull the right thread, don’t like the color or thread I’m using, or find the stitch I picked too hard to do.
I always have several projects in progress, so I can rotate them pretty easily.
Keep stitching,
Janet
