I owe my love of Criss-cross Hungarian to the great Shay Pendray. She used this stitch as the background f her book Inventive Needlepoint. There was alot of background and the stitch looked so good. Since then I’ve been on the lookout for criss-cross stitches. Today’s stitch elongates the stitch units, creating Criss-croos Cashmeres, below.
The stitch has open three-intersection columns. In the patch and on the diagram I have stitched these in Tent and Reverse Tent (red on diagram). But you could also use bugle beads, single oblong crosses, or tiny cross stitches.
The patch wa stitched using Soft Sheen Fyre Werks in FT 116.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little project giving you five new stitches.
