It seems to me that ever since the house remodel started time has gotten away from me. Normally I’m done stitching Christmas ornaments for the family by late August. By that time I had two out of five done & one of these was something I made for the Iconographic Needlepoint Club.
Since the Painted Pony angel was the last to be finished, I have missed the Christmas finishing deadlines for all my preferred finishers. Yes, there are still finishers accepting Christmas items but they are out of my price range or can’t finish the ones I need to mail in time.
Happily I have been stockpiling ornament canvases for my family this year. Also happily I have been stockpiling ornament finishing supplies as well. I love easy self-finishing stuff. That’s what everyone is getting.
There are five ornaments to do and here’s where I am:
- 2 ornaments stitched and put into metal square ornament frames that were the perfect size for each of them
- 1 square ornament started but requiring a frame. I might have one in the finishing box, which still needs to be moved.
- 1 round ornament started & going in a wooden ring which needs to be stained a different color
- 1 round ornament that went on stretcher bars Friday night, the Lee ornament frame for this is ordered
I decided that these new ornaments would be more sparkly than my usual work, so i pulled lots of metallic, mixed metallic, and shiny threads for them. At least I could reach those threads!
I’m hoping to finish the square today & liberate a frame for it so I have another piece crossed off my list. i’m also going to finish Mary in the little nativity set and start Joseph.
But because I did all that stitching I have the ornaments for next year already stitched. Knowing me I’ll decide that’s a reason to make 2 for everyone!
