I love Trianglepoint. it was developed by here Lantz, one of the authors of Pageant of Pattern, as a way to create equilateral triangles in needlepoint. From these triangles you can make hexagons, diamonds, and six-pointed stars. I recently got a book designed for quilters, Hexagons, Diamonds, Triangles, and More by Kelly Ashton (available on Amazon). The blocks section is chock full of designs based on these shapes as well as stars. It’s such a source of great designs.
Before stitching, use isometric graph paper to draw the block translating it to triangles. Make sure you use different colors for each of the colors in the block. The picture below shows you a design done on isometric paper.
The triangles are made of straight stitches, every two threads different from the ones next to it, below top, from that you can make rows, larger triangles, below bottom, and shapes.
You can also find several great free projects here using Trianglepoint;

- Pyramids Mini-Sock
