I just love all the great things I’m seeing coming out in Dallas. Designers and vendors have their cars packed with goodies or have already sent them. Shopowners are packing, and bringing extra suitcases, getting ready to go. It’s a great show and fun for everyone.
Here’s another batch of great new products.
Do you love the pink pumpkins that came from Barbara Bergstom? Eye Candy is debuting an adorable Pink Pumpkin House that’s a perfect centerpiece for them. It’s a 3-D cottage that has tons of patterned pink pumpkins all around it, plus a few black cats. Since the house is a pretty shade of yellow it coordinates well with both the pink pumpkins and more traditional Halloween decorations.
Eye Candy has also brought out their wonderful Bejeweled Bargello projects for shops. Originally these delightful small projects were available by subscription only. Now they will be joined by two new designs and available in shops.
Rachel Donley has a clever idea — a topiary alphabet! The letters are shaped bushes in a soft green. Each topiary is in a black Chippendale pot. The design elements are very traditional but used in a minimal contemporary way so they will fit into any decor. She showed a picture of two framed individually and hanging one over the other connected by a back-and-white ribbon. It was elegant, chic, and so easy to do!
Point2Pointe has recently come out with self-finishing coasters. They are 4″ squares that can be finished in the traditional way or in their new self-finishing option. The canvases come in sets with four related designs, including geometrics in several color schemes, all on 13 mesh. Pepperberry has a charming set of 4″ square designs on one canvas that could be ornaments or coasters. They are of Christmas plants with a poinsettia, an amaryllis, a pine cone, and a holly sprig. They have added 6 new cats in Santa hats to that popular line.
Kelly Clark has a new “village” collection – the North Pole Collection. There is a glorious mansion, complete with towers and onion domes. In the set you’ll also find a pile of presents and the North Pole itself with a polar bear standing by, along with other items. Alice Peterson has some great Christmas canvases out. One is Santa’s clothesline with clothing for Santa and Mrs. Claus hanging out to dry. A second, a stocking, has three snowmen standing in a column to put the star on top of a lovely tall tree.
CBK will have lots of new designs at the Market. The ones I saw include several single animals from Scott Church including a pelican in a Santa hat and a Basset Hound with a red balloon. Canvases from their other designers including a group of ski bum dogs and a simple folk art white whale on a navy background.
Machelle Somerville has a colorful bouquet of dramatic flowers including dahlias and cornflowers in a black and white vase. Another new canvas has blue flowers in a white vase with big black dots. The simple flowers and plants have lots of room for embellishment. BB Designs will have additional flower canvases as well as a wonderful village that reminds me of a quilt block.
JulieMar has two new artists, Sandi Carpenter and Karen Dukes. Their collections are premiering at the show. Leigh’s new Halloween collection,”Witchy Women” has 8 very elegant witches in flowing robes. Stitch guides are available for some of the canvases. Painted on eggshell/gold canvas, they won’t even need a background.
Kangaroo Paw has extended their line of accessories for sororities with bracelets and croakies. They are available for 15 national sororities currently. A new designer for The Artist’s Collection, KT Did, has a wonderful canvas of 16 squares, each with a different flowing geometric. It’s a great canvas for trying out stitches, threads, and embellishments.
Puffin & Co has two new needle minders a tulip and a decorated pumpkin. The pumpkin is a limited edition, available only until the pumpkins are picked. Stitching Pretty won’t be in Dallas but will be at the on-line Fall Market Hop (it starts today). They have some new fine silver needle minders. These are made from precious metal clay which contains recycled silver from old circuit boards. It’s the prettiest recycling I have ever seen!
Pipin’s Five Black Dresses is one of their most popular canvases. They have now come out with five LBD ornaments, each different. The designs are all on 13 mesh.Accoutrement Designs is now distributing magnet and cases with “eat. sleep. stitch.” on them. The magnets are silver or gold with enameled backgrounds. Love You More is celebrating the Day of the Dead with Raoul and Rosina, a skeleton couple that has been given a rooster as a gift. Renaissance has a new line of Frosty Felines that are 2″ rounds on 18 mesh. Finish them on button forms for quick ornaments.
& More has several new designs from SE Hagarmann including Edgar Allen Poe and a spider so patterned and delicate I thought he was a piece of jewelry. Lee has added a new shape to their leather snap trays. They are rectangular and 9.5″ x 6″. They take 6″ X 2.75″ canvas. Rainbow Gallery is adding 24 new colors to Glisten their braided wool and metallic thread. The new colors have few neutrals and are mostly brights and pastels.
