It seems as if there are new needlepoint products coming out every month. Here are some that have recently come out on the market. Even though January & February are not big months for needlepoint, there’s plenty of great stuff out there.
Dream House Ventures has a lovely new quilt-inspired geometric that alternates eight-pointed stars and diamonds in a palette of rainbow pastels with black. I just adore this 8.5″ square canvas. Dream House’s artist Carolyn Manning has a sixteen-block quilt sampler canvas inspired by the Farmer’s Wife quilt pattern. This would be an outstanding stash-buster project.
The Quarter Stitch has a lovely new canvas of a red fox with a delicate flower border. They also have a dozen new Clementine Hunter round ornaments, all 4.5″ in diameter. You’ll find some that are details from her larger paintings as well as some that are new, including a charming nativity and an annunciation. Another artist for them is Terry Gaskins who paints the local personalities of New Orleans. & more has lovely new florals from French Grafitti. They also have new packaging for all their beads and sequins. They are now coming in 2×2 recloseable bags.
Point2Pointe has added more Apple Watch bands. There are now 52 designs for both sizes of the watch. Julia’s Needleworks has a Halloween house with bats on the roof and ghosts all around. This is one of several Halloween buildings including a hair “bootique” and an “I scream parlor.” They also have new houses from Peter Ashe, including a lovely Tudor-style home. Strictly Christmas’s licensed artist Jo Parry has a charming canvas of a pampered black cat in a violet living room. A new licensee for them, Amy Hautman, comes on board with an extravagantly-feathered rooster in a canvas called “No One Takes Me Seriously.”
Mill Hill’s new perforated paper kits include a series of black cats designed by Debbie Mumm and a series of six Spring projects that include birds, flowers, frogs, and more. Speaking of frogs, Puffin has a new frog needle nanny. It joins other new designs including a flying pig. Colonial Needle has added five new colors to their Colonial Persian line. Kreinik has changed the package size for several of their metallics. #24 (canvas), #32 (heavy), and 1/8″ ribbon now come in 5-meter spools. The 10-meter spools in these sizes have been discontinued. Straw Silk will have hand-painted colors added to their line this year.
Kangaroo Paw has a new color scheme for their popular sorority rounds. These have polka dots in bright colors on white. They also have a new series of conversation rounds. Think conversation heart sayings on striped backgrounds. A new Patricia Sone canvas says “needlepoint enabler.” Kelly Clark has a trio of sweet Easter eggs with a lamb, bird, or bunny in bonnets. Judi & Co has a new canvas inspired by Matisse cut-outs the bold shapes on this canvas will be great to show off stitches. A patchwork Christmas tree composed of squares for both the tree and the trunk is another great canvas from Judi & Co.
Gone Stitching has a new canvas from artist Adam Rine with a blessing for lighting the candles written in Hebrew. Also new from this company is a pair of lily canvases (Oriental and Calla) on muted rainbow backgrounds. Kate Dickerson has a new canvas of a wonderful pink giraffe from artist Megan Carn. DJ Designs has a stunning new mid-century modern penguin and chick. A new canvas from Renaissance has a sleigh with guests under blankets pulling up to a cozy cottage. A new stocking from Liz Goodrick-Dillon has a snowman as a night watchman with a lantern, surrounded by woodland animals.
