Back when 2020 started and I made my stitching resolutions, I didn’t put 20 projects in 2020 down. That’s because I did not expect to stitch 20 projects. I wanted to stitch for 20 minutes a day, and with a few exceptions, I have managed to do that.
But then the lockdowns happened, and all the things we had planned to do outside the house got canceled. There was little left to do that was fun but stitch. So far, I’ve finished 55 projects, and I expect I’ll finish 3 more before the end of the year (they are small or mostly finished already.
Let’s look at my goals and how I did.
My 2020 goals:
- Publish at least one printed stitch dictionry
- Create an archive & membership site for the daily newsletter
- Learn and share with you great non-painting ways to color your canvas
- Finish a bunch of projects
- Learn how to do beading & ribbonwork better
- Develop a permanent beginner’s site
- Publish 20 new stitch guides & 5 new PDF projects
I did not create the membership site, but I still plan to. Trying to stay healthy and worrying took up too much of my mental energy this year.
I grew my Etsy shop significantly, adding 7 new projects and 20 new stitch guides to it. I have two new ebooks in the works which will be added in 2021, and dozens of stitch guides to convert. I expect that I will add 5 new projects, at least 3 new plaids, and 20 new stitch guides to the shop. I also plan to add stand-alone shops to my stitch guide and needlepoint plaids site. I may open a stand-alone shop for everything, but I am still considering this.
I did a good job of reducing my finishing stash, but probably only by 1/4 instead of 1/3. I plan to work on this more next year. I am happy that I am reducing my stitched but not finished needlepoint by donating them to a church. They finish them and sell them as a fund-raiser for the parish.
I don’t plan on setting a project stitched goal, but I am hoping for about 40. I have some larger projects I want to work on. There will be three stitch-alongs next year, I hope. And I’m really hoping to reduce the size of my stashes by stitching from stash.
What are your plans for 2021?
