If you daren’t in Europe or don’t run a business or website, GDPR looks like a random bunch of letters. But it isn’t; it stands for General Data Privacy Regulation and it goes into effect May 25. It is a European requirement but it affects anyone who does business in Europe or who has a website accessible in Europe.
It’s the reason you’ve been getting updated privacy notices in your email and the reason you might be getting emails asking you to opt-in.
Because of this you’ll be seeing some changes, all minor, in this blog.
First, the privacy section of my About page has been expanded & the name changed to reflect this. It’s in the links at the top of every page.
Second, I have implemented SSL, a security measure. Now the URL’s should start with “https” and show a green padlock. HTTP addresses should still work.
Third, comments and contact forms will be changing to have an acceptance checkbox on them. When this will happen, I don’t know because they are par of the next release of Word Press.
I am told that’s all that is needed, but you never know. If there are hiccoughs over the next two weeks, that’s the reason.
