First off, here are the winners of the Milestone Contest: Charlotte Meek, Monica Mosely, and Donna Hires! Thanks to all who entered and you guys gave me some great ideas.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
Pepperberry has several two-side gingerbread cookies and a candy tree. These would be wonderful as ornaments or stand-ups. I love that both sides are needlepoint. They have also added a Greek flag to their series of flag hearts. Finally there is a new series of pets in Santa hats — this time it’s cats, plus there are two new dogs (boxer and pug).
Purple Palm has added new golf courses to that series of rounds. There are also several new canvases from Brenda’s mosaics, a lovely couple from Otto Agular, and beach cottages in two colors from Erin Nelson. Rachel Donnely is a relatively new designer. Her canvases include scissors cases that look like fruit wedges, delightful small round boxes that have stitched tops and sides, and, my favorite, a wonderful 3-D Nantucket basket purse that is just too adorable. She is also the designer behind the popular letter to Santa envelope canvas.
Raymond Crawford has a new series of eggs that have a pastel palette enlivened by black-and-white checks, giving them a MacKenzie-Childs style. He also has a series of checked eggs in white plus a color; these would be so great to show off a collection of stitches or threads. Adding to his eggs is a series of mini eggs in solid colors nestled in grass against a sunny sky. He also has new cupcakes (the carrot cake with carrots in the icing is my favorite) and two charming patchwork watermelons (a wedge and a slice). There are also great new beachy canvases, stars, Texas ornaments, and a wonderful wine square featuring red wine.
Strictly Christmas has a ton of new cupcakes — including many for holidays other than Christmas. They also have new Santas and two new Halloween series, one of spooky arrangements featuring deep purple candles. Also new to them are some canvases featuring chicken recipes with a little blck hen surrounded by the ingredients for a dish. Check out “chicken salad” — it’s a riot.
Susan Roberts always has plenty to love. Her new designs include two wonderful Lone Star quilts, one that’s a perfect stash-buster with its multi-color border. There is a new brick cover featuring a lobster with buoys that’s very clever. The Peaceable Kingdom canvas has all kinds of animals in a barn and would be a lovely companion to a nativity canvas. I also love their new canvas which is a nativity as a tree-topper star.
Painted Pony has added a new artist, Sally Swannell. Her initial canvases include several lovely house canvases. Another new designer, A Poor Girl Paints Needlepoint, specializes in sayings often done in script on boldly patterned backgrounds. Anyone who knows my taste in wines knows I put “rose all day” on my list to buy.
The Meredith Collection always has plenty of delightful pieces. I want, right now, the Charley Harper California quail. He’s joined by several other new Harpers, including a toucan, baboon, and flying ladybug. The company has added a bunch of new rounds to their feet series. These guys are taking part in summer sports and activities from camping to baseball. The team sports feet can be painted in the colors of your favorite team. There are more in the realistic animals series, including a lovely llama. There are new sayings and ornaments and, a wonderful new series of animal and bird canvases. These are in a folk-art style that almost looks like papercutting. They are striking but would be easy to stitch.
Kate Dickerson has several new woven ribbon canvases in bright colors. She also has a new destination square for Ireland. There are also some new lettering and background styles for her monogram canvases and new Lilly and Herend-inspired hearts. Most interesting was her many canvases featuring hemp (i.e. cannibis) leaves with everything from a belt to ornaments. It’s a sign, I think, of the growing marijuana legalization movement.
Gayla Elliot is now being distributed by The Collection. Her newest canvas has a quartet of cocktails in bright tropical colors. A Bradley has a ton of clever new mini-socks. These include a Tiffany box min-sock, one featuring Nintendo controllers (small boy alert), and a great T, rex. Kirk & Bradley has a new travel round for Atlanta. Burnett & Bradley has a charming series of farm animals. There are six in the series and they would be a great set for a small child.
CBK has several new Scott Church designs as well as new sayings. There is a great canvas for near you front door that says “Wipe your Paws.” Pippin has a canvas with five golf bag filled with clubs. The wide border says “speak softly and carry a big stick.” They also have a stocking with a dozen small Santas. Zecca has several new floral designs in their signature style. These are in several different sizes. They also have several new glasses cases and a wonderful new canvas with two fish in a Mid-century Modern style.
