The holidays and the New Year are often times of reflection for us. We not only want to finish things off, we also want to start new things.
And what better way to do that than to learn how to create your own stitch guides with a specially-priced and shorter session of my popular class.
It will give you the tools you need to pick stitches and create your own stitch guide. In just 8 weeks, you’ll learn:
- the keys to picking the right canvas for you
- how to pick threads and stitches to give you realistic effects
- the way to pick stitches that fit
- how to pick perfect backgrounds
- why balance is important and how to achieve it
We are all so busy during the holidays, but this class has no requirements, you don’t even need to have a canvas in mind. You can just sit back and learn wonderful skills that will help you throughout your stitching life.
I don’t want to you miss out on this chance, even if you can’t always keep up with the lessons. That’s why I send them to you as PDFs. They are there, ready, when you want to read them. They become a permanent reference for you.
This special session will feature only one canvas as our model for a stitch guide. Through the class we’ll be developing the stitch guide for a lovely vintage Anne Jerlow Christmas stocking, pictured above.
New for this class, we’ll go through step-by-step, the process of creating the design, right along with the lessons you’re learning. From choosing threads to picking stitches for plants, clothing, houses, and animals, this part of the class will give you ideas you can use again and again.

The class begins December 1 and costs only $29 more than a third off the regular price of $45 for the longer class, held each spring.

Not quite clear on using stocking to create guide…do we buy the stocking? Do we start with a blank mounted canvas and create stitch guide on it as we learn a new stitch?
Thank you,
Nancy Cascio
No you do not need to buy anything. The best way to understand the process of creating a stitch guide is to read stitch guides, hear (or read) the thought process behind the choices, or watch one being created. In this class the stocking will be used to be the third option.
Plus the lessons have plenty of the second option as well.
Keep stitching,
Janet
Thank you for clarifying
Can this be done as a cyber class?i live in Florida and although I love the area you are in… my best friend lives in Vacaville… it is a long commute. Could you learn solely from the handouts?
It is a cyberclass. Everything is sent via email, so no commuting or scheduling problems. Let me know if you are coming out this way!
Keep stitching,
Janet
Am I missing more info that might be posted? How long is the class, how often do we have a new lesson, and how much time might each lesson take to complete. It sounds very interesting, but I might have to “catch-up” after the holidays, so wondering if that is manageable?
The lessons are sent weekly via email for 8 weeks. Because you have the PDFs of each lesson you can take them as you are able to do so. The lessons shouldn’t take too long to read and, because this is not a project class, there isn’t an issue of completing it before going on to the next. What you are doing here is building knowledge so you can create your own guides.
Keep stitching,
Janet
Thanks. Ill be signing up
