An amazing teacher, Jane Zimmerman has done much to bring older techniques and good needlepoint practices to our attention. I first learned about Jane in the early 1980’s a few months after I had moved to California. She taught needlepoint classes at my LNS, which was a block from my house. Now retired from teaching, she is making many of her articles available online.
Or Nue (meaning “nude gold”) takes metallic threads and attaches them to a ground with small stitches perpendicular to the gold. Jane has two great articles available. The first is an introduction to Or Nue. The second is about stitching Or Nue on canvas. It includes tip and several examples.

Without doubt, Jane Zimmerman’s name still puts a smile on my face, Decades ago, at a local needlework store, I took my 1st needlepoint , patchwork Amish type quilting, and other needlework classes. Although her printed early needlework instructions are faded, whenever I see her finished pillow designs sitting on my sofa, they still bring back a lot of joy. Also smile when I look at the needlepoint nutcracker that you helped me decades ago.. Without doubt, with the help from you, Jane and other instructors, I could not have done it without you, Jane and the others. A great big thanks!
Keep safe and cool during these challenging times and our currently hot/humid weather and any personal concerns we might face. As for my stash of needlepoint, counted cross stitch, crewel, Russian punch needle and other needlework projects, I have more than enough to keep me out of mischief for a while. Back to stitching!
As for your upcoming needlework consultation class, your students are going to be totally amazed by your suggestions. I certainly was!
Thanks again!
