If I consider 2019, it’s definitely been a mixed bag. In one area, getting stitch guides online, I did better than I had hoped when the year started. In the other areas, I fell short, sometimes greatly so. I stitched less and stitched slower than in previous years. The attention I spent on rehab and on a new treatmment for my MS cut into potential stitching time.
I have learned that a downtown Starbucks early in the morning and doing infusion treatments are not great places for stitching. I’m hoping with my next treatment later this month, I can rectify some of this. I have discovered some strategies that make stitching in the car easier, so that is something I can now do more easily.
With the cupcake club, I learned lots of new ways to handle embellishments and with the second year of the icons club, I discovered many interesting sources for designs I plan to put to use this year.
In spite of what I have accomplished, I’m not satisfied. I tend not to make resolutions in the rest of my life because I hate falling short. As a result, I am not making resolutions this year.
Looking Forward
But that does not mean I don’t have goals. And, being me, they are aggressive (will I ever learn?). I plan to:
- Publish at least one printed stitch dictionry
- Create an archive & membership site for the daily newsletter
- Learn and share with you great non-painting ways to color your canvas
- Finish a bunch of projects
- Learn how to do beading & ribbonwork better
- Develop a permanent beginner’s site
- Publish 20 new stitch guides & 5 new PDF projects
I’m planning on keeping you updated on what I have accomplished in the 2020 Stitching Progress box in the sidebar. Let’s hope 2020 is a great stitching year for all of us!

I think you’re too hard on yourself. All anyone can ask is that we all do the best we are able. Falling short and “greatly so” is sometimes what someone else would wish for. You’re doing a great job! Thank you for the work you do.
