This little Lauren Bloch canvas is one choice of several mini hearts she has. Tent Stitch and Diagonal Gobelin combine with metallic and non-metallic threads for an easy project.
Lauren Bloch Sage Green and Melon Mini Heart (M-03)
1 skein each Gentle Arts Sampler Threads in Poppy and Peach Ice Cream
1 skein Classic Colorworks floss in Rosy Glow
1 card Soft Sheen Fyre Werks FT46 (light greeen)
1 spool each Kreinik Tapestry (#12) in 5009 and 1232HL
Because I decided to finish the heart into a Studio Decor ornament frame (tutorial on this can be found here), I needed to expand the size of the background. I used the clear film from the frame to center the heart. Then I traced around the film to find the correct finished size.
To make the heart stand out, I chose to stitch the heart in the three metallic threads (I talked about these choices here).
Stitch the white lines in the heart in Tent Stitch using white (1232HL) metallic. At the top and bottom of each of these lines is a light green intersection. Stitch these using the Fyre erks.
Stitch the light green stripes in the heart in Diagonal Gobelin, below, using Fyre Werks. Finish the heart by stitching the darker stripes using the same stitch and dark green (5009) metallic.
The background gets stitched next. Begin by stitching the white lines in Twnt Stitch using four strands of Peach Ice Cream floss. If you have expanded the background size, extend the lines and add new lines with two threads between them to fill the entire space below.
Stitch the darker stripes in Diagonal Gobelin, above using four strands of Poppy floss. Next, stitch the lighter lines in the same stitch using four strands of Rosy Glow floss.
A delightful project that you can finish in a day!
