Friday night I started this avocado from Bad Bitch Needlepoint. It had no background marked so I decided to fit it into a 2.5″ ornament round and began by marking the round.
Because it will be an ornament, I’m using only Kreinik for the skin & flesh. I used a soft pale green crewel wool for the background.
This leaves the seed. I’m not sure how to stitch it. If I want to use the clear plastic “glass” on the ornament round, Tebt or Cross Stitch has to be the stitch. If I ditched the glass I could use padding to make a stumpwork seed. My iriginal thought wa to use Tent and more metallics. As I thought about it though, that would be dull and would not highlight the difference in texture between flesh & seed. Neon Rays would be a better choice for a thread.
Becuse of its placement near the center and the dark color, your eye gets drawn to the seed first. if that’s the case why not emphasize this even more? By using a different thread I have already reinforced the focal point in one way. If I padded it it would be furher reinforced.
So that’s my plan and I’ll finish it today.
