Over the weekend we got some rain, making for a day that was lovely for staying indoors (not that I had much choice) and enjoying seeing all the wonderful new needlepoint that has come out.
Planet Earth has a quick stitch project. These are key fobs that are 1″ round in black leather. The company currently has five painted canvas designs plus a blank canvas option. I learned a couple of days ago that Kate Dickerson has lots of great canvases that come, I think, complete with the fob to make a really fast gift. I have one on my desk right now, so I will be reviewing it shortly.
Sew Much Fun has three new sitting figures for Halloween: Frankenstein, Dracula, and a pirate. All have green faces so they would make an outstanding set. Jean Smith has four exciting jungle canvas with a giraffe, zebra, elephant, or tiger on them. She also has two canvases with portraits of flowering Kale that are very striking. Other new canvases include a flower-bedecked elephant and a scene with window boxes.
I really loved Mindy’s new canvases. She has two new self-finishing items, an Asian purse and a leather box. The purse comes in three different colors, each with a coordinating canvas. The box has four canvases that fit it. Mindy also has five new hearts, about 6″ in size, that are in different color schemes. She also has several new Asian designs in different colors. Her quiet folk art landscapes and houses have always been popular; this spring she has two new ones. Love is part of the line in several canvases including hearts and sayings. Finally, there are several canvases with sayings, including Carpe Diem, Beach (three versions), and oy vey.
Labors of Love has a series of birthstone Santas. Each figure is in the color of the month’s birthstone and is carrying the flower for the month. The painting on October’s Santa is especially intriguing. A new series of canvases designed for nurseries is Lucy Leo & Friends. In it, you’ll find a sleeping door hanger, a charming picture frame, and a group of stuffed animals in a picture. Melissa Prince has added coasters for five recent movies. In the three new travel canvases is one fro a trip to Mars via Elon Musk’s Tesla roadster!
Love You More has a fantastic canvas of red and yellow chile peppers, some cut in half. It makes for a vibrant and interesting design. There is also a lovely succulent design in soft colors, and four sea-themed canvas in a classic blue-and-white color scheme. I love their Christmas canvas with three mid-century mod ornaments but in classic holiday colors. It’s a great blend of old and new. Also new is a series of snowman with lots of personalities. New saints are Saint Bernadette and Saint Catherine of Sienna. Finally, a flamingo and a cockatoo make two bright bird canvases.
New canvases from Mile High Princess include a figure celebrating women’s right to vote. They also have a colorful new series of bright patterned fish. You can get the fish either as individuals or in a single canvas with four fish. The neat aspect of the individual fish is that they come in right and left facing versions, so you could pair them to make a two-sided display. it’s a very clever idea. New from & more is a 2020 series where zeros and O’s are replaced with rolls of toilet paper. How did they know these designs would be so timely?
Susan Roberts has gone nuts for gnomes with three individual canvases plus a larger one with five gnomes. There is a series of round ornaments with animals in a primitive folk art style. She also has two new 3-D houses, one gingerbread and one red velvet cake. There are new Tapestry Tent and Liz stockings. A series by Liz is of charming individual animals. This would make lovely additions to the tree for folks who have one or more of her stockings.
A new designer for me, Jessica Tongel, has ornaments of iconic items such as Nestle’s morsels and a Starbucks cup. She also has preppy driving moccasin ornaments in several colors. Maggie has some charming new cat canvases. Two of my favorites are the cat dressed up as Cleopatra and a grey tabby tangled up in yarn. Also new from Maggie is a great black sheep and a basket of tulips with a bunny in the background. Jenny Henry has new geometric designs in a very Middle Eastern color scheme that come in two sizes, one made for the Planet Earth jewelry boxes. She also has foldover and single-sided clutches as well as eyeglass cases.
Strictly Christmas has a baker’s dozen of new Santas. New from their licensed artist Ann Scott is a magnificent flower-covered high heel. I’ve seen this stitched and it was amazing! Another artist, Ronnie Rooney, has a bunch of reindeer dressed up, including one in striped footie pajamas. There. is a set of small chocolate sayings that’s new as well as a lovely series of Easter eggs, ten in all. There are also three lovely trays from Deux Bijoux Bijoux designed to go with there canvas.
