New from JP Needlepoint is a wonderful rooster with a colorful tail and a whole bunch of Halloween canvases on bright orange canvas. With these you would only need to stitch the background lightly to make a great finished piece. They also have new cat lady and dog lady canvases in a style similar to their colorful cats and dogs. They also have lots of new geometric squares in very classic designs that would pair beautifully with oriental rugs.
In addition to the oter great Pippin canvases I’ve talked about, there is one of a dozen colorful tea kettles. I could really see this with the dutch oven dozens as a pair in a kitchen. Patricia Sone has six charming 4″ hearts with different central motifs. Each comes with a stitch guide. CBK has a new Scott Church canvas that is just too cute. It’s an egg shape with an Easter egg toting chick in a bunny suit. Also new from this artist is a very large polar bear with a very small Christmas tree. Also new from CBK are championship rounds for the Chiefs and Nationals.
I don’t know who makes them, but Stitchin’ Littles are needlepoint kits designed by kids for kids. They make an excellent first project with hand-painted 7-mesh canvas, pre-cut yarn (double the amount needed), needle, threader and instructions for both Continental & Basketweave all included. The designs I saw included geometrics, a unicorn, and two Christmas packages. There are 21 designs in all. Tapestry Fair has a new Ann Speiss Mills angel as well as a new Saint Francis.
Voila has 16 new bag canvases, including 10 different ladies in late-60’s neon colors. For their wicker bags, there are a dozen new rounds, including four different ladies and a great Cosmopolitan cocktail. There are also three new squares and eight new 2×3 inserts for luggage tags or wallets. They have nine new glasses case canvases of which all but two are double-sided. New flask covers include one each for Halloween and Christmas as well as a pirate-themed one.
Cheryl Schaeffer has several new cookie cutter designs including a feather-trimmed bustier and a crab. New canvases from The Meredith Collection include two lovely geisha and a realistic sloth. There is also a shark tooth fairy pillow with a treasure chest as the pocket. There are also new Christmas stocking and cuffs. A delightful new shape for ornaments is gift tags, which are available in eight different designs. The popular Santa states have been joined by basketball, football, and pumpkin versions. New Charley Harper canvases include several new ornaments and two lovely large panels of the Edge of Appalachia, one each for summer and autumn.
Dandi has so many wonderful canvases I hardly know where to start. I love the slightly geometric flowers in the new set of 4″ squares. There are eight in all. In 5″ squares there is a set of Chinese zodiac animals in a traditional palette of red, black, and gold. Earth Art has three new designs: elephant, rabbit, and moth. There are three each of new dog bone ornaments and cat face picture frames for pet lovers. They also have a large new series of southwestern posts, some cacti and others with decorative borders.
CH Designs for Danji has new patterned running rabbits and new stars. CH’s line of candy canes has expanded with new ones for different occupations and sports. There are also accompanying squares for several of these. Last year’s patriotic gazebo gets dressed up for Christmas with a set of accompanying Victorian figures. Another Danji favorite, Laurel Burch, has four new designs, including a lovely bird in flight.
Danji has several of Janet Casey’s projects, which were formerly only available as teaching pieces, as painted canvases. These simple designs are outstanding when done with decorative stitches. They include guides by Janet. These cover more than just Christmas with three Halloween designs and a wonderful Easter train that’s on my list of favorites. There are two new sunglass-wearing animals, and a whole bunch of great rounds from ZIA designs.
