Although I have all three Stitches for Effect books, I don’t use them very often. This is because, when I’m looking for a stitch, I’m thinking of it by stitch family, not necessarily by effect.
If I’m thinking by effect, I can easily find possible stitches in these books. But what if I need a Cross Stitch for this project?
I’m out of luck. I can check the index for stitches beginning with Cross Stitch, but what if it has another name, or if I don’t know the name.
I had reason earlier this week to look for specific types of stitches in these books. I had to look at every diagram on every page to figure out the stitches that would work.
You may have had to do this as well. So I’m going to make myself an index of the Stitches for Effect books and publish it here on the blog. I’ll use the stitch categories in The Needlepoint Book as a way to organize and list the stitch name and a volume and page reference for each one.
Once it’s all done I’ll make it available as a free download on All about Needlepoint, a Kindle book, and possibly some other smart phone and ereader formats as well.
It will run on Fridays until I’m finished with it, and there will be an index to each listing at the end of each post.
