I just keep finding more goodies that will be appearing at the Dallas Market that’s just finishing up.
Colonial Needle is now packaging their Colonial Persian in 8-yard skeins. Packaged on cards, all colors in the line are available. This makes the thread a great option for folks who want just a bit of wool. Silk Road Fibers has added seven new colors to Straw Silk. Threadworx has added a new thread to their line, over-dyed Kreinik Ice Chenille. There are 23 colors available in 5-yard skeins. Wichelt is now distributing Gloriana Threads.
Little Bird Designs has lots of new canvases. They include belts, bookmarks, and items for self-finishing products. Plus she has new stitch guides for some of the most popular designs. Patti Mann has several adorable series that include display options, her Swing Set Collection. A metal tree has three swings on it. These can each have a needlepoint figure that is two-sided and magnetized to stay on the swing. Current sets include Halloween, Christmas, Superheroes, the Wizard of Oz, and Easter.
Kate Dickerson has introduced a line of Limoges-style boxes. The designs are mostly geometric with a common color palette so they can be displayed together. Each comes with an exclusive metal hinge in silver, gold, or rose gold. Kate has another licensed artist, Maren Devine, with canvases that look like illustrations from fashion magazines. Another new artist for Kate is Megan Carn. Her canvases feature broad strokes of light colors on pastel backgrounds.
JP Needlepoint has two great new colorful cactus canvases. One is of the more traditional cactuses, all in bloom. The other is of succulents that look like pretty ruffled bows in colors so bright you’ll have to look twice! They also have some wonderful cheerful Halloween canvases on eye-popping bright orange canvas. Some of these, such as the black cat in the polka dot heel, will work beyond the holiday. Winnetka Stitchery has added new canvases to their line of sassy sayings with designs by Amy Rigotti Clark. The Quarter Stitch has a stunning new canvas inspired by a vintage floral scarf. At 17″ square on 13 mesh, it’s a real treasure.
Kangaroo Paw has introduced their Itty Bitty Collection mini squares that can be self-finished. They are available for 15 national sororities. Sandra Gilmore has a lovely new potting bench canvas that is perfect for different stitches and threads. Brenda Stofft has a new canvas in her steampunk line — an elegant witch accompanied by a white wolf. She also has a canvas of a witch with poppies adapted from a painting by Alida Akers. It’s one of several by this new artist.
Silver Needle has added Good Night Moon mini-socks to their licensed line for this iconic children’s book. Meredith Collection has a new line of Santa Faces shaped like each state. They also have a series of vintage VW buses ready for different events from Halloween to a wedding. They are colorful and cute. Pepperberry has a new breed added to their dog silhouettes on plaid series. The Scottie dog is a perfect combination. They also have a new smaller set of daisy coasters. At 3″ square they will fit into the Planet Earth self-finishing coasters.
Share One’s Ideas has a wonderful fall canvas of falling leaves. With a stitched area of 15×5″ it will be a lovely accent for skinny spaces. Pippin Studio has a set of small stand-ups called Reindeer Games. There are six reindeer with packages and three trees. On 13 mesh they are between 5 and 8 inches tall. Patricia Sone has a new line of 2×2 complete kits called “Stitch It, Frame It, Love It.” Available in many designs, they come with a hand-painted canvas, instructions, and a wood frame.
Mary Engelbreit has a hippie girl canvas coming out from Painted Pony. It has a stitch guide by Patricia Sone. Decorations has a 12″ square design that’s a collage of hearts. It’s a great place to try out a bunch of stitches. &more is introducing a new artist to their line, Celia Meadors, who will debut with designs for stocking cuffs and holiday pillows, including a Texas Santa. Labors of Love has a new pudgy Santa ornament, 3×4 on 18 mesh.
Among the new canvases from Susan Roberts is a realistic cow portrait by Liz Dillon. They also have a canvas of colorful succulents by Ashley Dillon. They also have a great coaster set of four different simple but realistic waterbirds. Point2Pointe has a small glass tree made to display wine charms. Four charms can be displayed. It’s available in seashore and Christmas themes.
Shelly Tribbey has new coffins, including my favorite a colorful Day of the Dead skeleton. She also has delightful ornaments for different holidays inspired by cookie cutters. The Artist’s Collection has brought out a dozen canvases with garden veggies. These come from Jennifer Riefenberg and The Art of Sunshine. The canvases are 4″ square and include stitch guides. There are 3 sets of four canvases each.
Finger Step Designs has a new charted needlepoint that features geometric tiles in black and white. Mill Hill has added new glass treasures in several shapes. These include eggs, crystals, rondelles, and teardrops. &more has added two new sizes of flat sequins to their line of embellishments. 5mm and 8mm sequins are available in more than 30 colors.
CBK has new canvases from several of their licensed artists, including Laura Murry and Will Budddas. Needledeeva has two great canvases of round whirlygigs, one for spring and one for fall. DJ Designs has a wonderful new canvas adaptation of a traditional Navajo blanket. They also have new animals in their popular graphic animals line. There is also new series inspired by vintage fashion illustrations.
There are new companies and mergers in the needlepoint world. JulieMar & Friends and UniqueNZ have merged are are now sold under PLD Designs. Both companies have new designs out. JulieMar’s new designs include several new mezuzahs by licensed artist Steven Klein. Fourth of July picnic is another new JulieMar canvas from artist Sharon Ascherl.
