Straw Silk is a delightful thread (read my review here) and it has a wonderful texture and fantastic colors. It can be difficult however to know how the threads fit into colors, especially if the names don’t evoke a particular color. I’m sure we can all figure out that “lime-lime” is a green, but what about “Mary Jane?” What color is that.
Recently Silk Road Fibers published a color list organized by color. The threads are not grouped into specific color families (shades of a single color) but by larger color groups. If you are looking to shade with Straw Silk you will need to look at the colors in a group that will work together as a family. If you are doing this, be aware that the colors you need could be in more than one group. For example, the pink colors are the lighter shades of red.
The list is in order by color name. Within each name the individual colors are listed by color number and include the number and name.

Where can I learn to needlepoint leaves w strawsilkthread
I can’t think of any tutorials about leaves per se. I do have an article about straw silk here. Because it is a flat thread, I would do this for stitching leaves:
— Make or use a center vein on the leaf
— Stitch with Straw Silk Diagonal Gobelin Stitches slanting towards the center vein. The width of the leaf half should be done in one stitch.
— Use a laying tool if needed to keep the stitches flat and smooth.
— Repeat with the ither half. These stitches will slant in the opposite direction.
The means thart the stitches will be different lengths and lants depending on the leaf’s shape,
Keep stitching,
Janet
