More news from TNNA and other needlepoint designers today and tomorrow.
In Monday’s post I mentioned that I thought Rogue had new flag ovals as well as the globe rounds. I just got confirmation that they do. The ovals are 4.25″ x 2.5″ so they will fit in well with either size of globe. Any country can be ordered. There will also be some new TV rounds coming soon.
Kate Dickerson has some lovely vintage “Shabby Chic” squares for several cities and regions. They have a dainty look that will work well with Romantic Country interiors. This is great because there aren’t many canvases in this style.
Eye Candy has some great new Bargello ornaments in her signature bright colors. Because they are four-way medallions, these would be a wonderful way to try this technique if you worry about messing up the count.
Colonial Needle, which includes Lee Needle Arts and Silver Needle, has several new canvases. They have greatly expanded the selection of Paddington bear designs. There are also four lovely full-size angel stockings, plus a charming patchwork ‘painted stitches’ stocking in traditional Christmas colors. There is also a new color in their leather snap trays (brown).
The Elizabeth Turner Collection has a glorious series of four large realistic parrot canvases that are begging to be stitched. The bright colors of the birds would really be brought to life once stitched. They also have an adorable series of animal mittens. There’s an elephant and a curious monkey, but my favorite is the more realistic zebra with a present on his back and a wreath around his neck. There are also lots of blingy new magnetic needleminders including a glorious dragon a Cosmo (magenta rhinestones), and, my favorite, a champagne glass with pearl “bubbles.”
Maggie Co and Ewe & Eye have lots of great new canvases. There is a wonderful series of complex Mandalas/hex designs. I also saw an adorable large canvas of three black & white bunnies raiding a garden. There are some seasonal cross-stitch style samplers. And there are plenty of folk-art inspired country designs, including a wonderful wooden basket of hydrangeas.
JP Needlepoint has an adorable set of round Christmas ornaments featuring owls and penguins dressed for the season. These include an owl dressed as a Christmas tree and a penguin in an Argyle sweater among others. They also have lovely new waterfowl stand-ups, and two elaborate crosses on black canvas. A series of patchwork flowers are available in two patterns in three different colors. These could make great stitch or thread samplers. They also have a charming series of canvases illustrating ten of Aesop’s fables. The moral is around the outside in a dark border with the center being a scene from the fable.
In addition to these great designs and series, there are new geometrics, damasks, and animals in their signature styles and colors. They have also added several new styles to their brick bag and to their historical hooters series. There is also a new series of patterned cats that would be great for beginners or to make as a series. The cats have several different patterns and come in two different poses. Another series is of bunnies dressed for winter activities. Finally there is a new series on 13-mesh of 6″ squares. These designs are simple and are subjects that appeal to either boys or girls. These would be great starter projects that don’t look too childish.
Fleur de Paris keeps adding new artists to their collection of designers. At this show they added the distinctive designs of Curtis Boehringer, which were often hard to find. Because Fleur distributes blanks canvas, threads, and several other popular designers, it’s going to be easier to get his canvases.
From their other designers, I saw an outstanding Mexican-style creche or Madonna from dede as well as some great tassel toppers, including a witch’s hat. Joy Juarez has two new stockings. Sandra Gilmore has several newwindows, including some seasonal designs. I just loved Sharon G’s new ornaments which have several patterns in traditional colors in Sharon’s painterly style. Finally Machelle Somerville has a great series of modern florals done in black and white against a colored background.
Princess & Me has an adorable sock monkey face ornament. They have also gone one better with the bride & groom wedding ornaments with one showing the wedding party including a ring-bearer and flower girl. I think it would be easy to change the bridesmaid’s dresses to ones that match the actual ones.
That’s it for today. Come back tomorrow for more great new products from TNNA!
