While the Winter Market is more important for needlepoint, there’s still plenty of great new products from last weekend’d TNNA Needlework Market. I’ll be covering the show in posts today, Wednesday, and Thursday. The show coverage will finish up Monday with a special post.
A new company, Greg’s Turn, makes hand-turned tools on a lathe. Some of their products are a Tool Caddy, Scissors Keepers, Needle Keeper, Laying Tools, and a container for ORTs. Another new company, CristineCreates, makes project bags in a number of unusual styles.
Rainbow Gallery is introducing lots of new colors There are 10 new colors in Entice, 4 new colors in both sizes of Very Velvet, 6 new colors of Alpaca 18, and 8 new colors is Silk Lame for 13 mesh and Petite. They also have a new, lovely acrylic carrying case for your BLT (Best Laying Tool). These sharp tools tend to poke through most holders so it’s great to have something beautiful that will protect the sharp point.
There are several new Mag Friends from Accoutrement Designs. These include two great eight-pointed star quilt blocks, a blingy turkey, and two new colors in their rhinestone frame. There are also new magnetic needleholders.
Labors of Love has lots of great inventive designs. In clip-on ornaments there is a new series of two-sided snow people. For clip-on birds there is a puffin and a baby-carrying stock (available in pink or blue). They also have new storybook needlepoint people and sayings and a cute series of mini mermaids with different color tails. I also love their new club –bridal tree ornaments with 12 designs in all. These are so new their website shows sketches, not painted canvas, of several of them.
Barbara Bergsten has some fantastic full-size Christmas stockings in her signature preppy/beachy palette. Their geometric patterns will be easy to stitch. I am crazy about the two new cat canvases fromJP Needlepoint. The two tabbies, grey and ginger, are patterned with each area in a bold geometric pattern in shades of a single color. There is also a wonderful stack of ten pumpkins in various colors and sizes.
Painted Pony has a new series of lovely small but realistically painted Santas. They also have a group of country houses and farm scenes with some very happy sheep. In new angels there is a Mrs. Santa Claus, a stained glass church, and an astronomy angel. I am delighted that they have a new series of adorable black cat designs from Funda Scully.
Melissa Prince has added more delightful houses, including a brownstone, to this series. DJ Designs has some needlepoint slippers that aren’t the usual designs. One is a flaming skull and heart!
Voila has several new ways for belt or even wide dog collar canvases to be used including as a decorative panel around a leather clutch. In addition to the city rounds I talked about in the preview, Kirk & Bradley also has rounds for Chicago and Miami. The Miami one has a great South Beach vibe.
Rogue Needlepoint, though not at the show, has two exciting new lines. First there’s TV Needlepoint with 2.5″ rounds of designs inspired by iconic TV shows. They also have a new series of globes in two sizes and two color schemes that can highlight any country. The globes are double-sided. It may also be, but I’m not sure, that they also have ovals, like car ovals, of different countries’ flags. Not new, but also from Rogue, are rounds for C3PO or R2D2 from Star Wars. Order these now and have them ready for the new movies!
Remember that unlike past TNNA markets, many vendors are now selling products for immediate delivery. That means your local shop might have new items in stock this week.
Tomorrow will be the next step in our magnolia needlepoint, followed by more show coverage on Wednesday and Thursday.
