I learned this trick from my friend Wesie who lives on an island connected to the rest of the world by a drawbridge. She always kept some needlepoint in the car to do when stuck. I have had a life where I spend too much time waiting in cars.
When my kids were little it was waiting at Kumon, at piano lessons, and in school parking lots. It gave me plenty of time to stitch. I could even work on largish projects.
Now I live on an island connected by a drawbridge and I end up waiting while other people run errands, when choir practice happens before Mass, and at other times.
So I stitch. Sometimes I actually bring an active project. Mostly though I keep in the car what my son called a “grab & Go” project yesterday. It needs to be small. It needs to fit into a project bag. It requires only stressless stitching that can be done in small bursts.
This heart is my current project. It’s almost all Tent. I had lost track of it until recently when we had to
clean out the van to take stuff to the thrift shop. It went back into the van yesterday and is ready to go.
I like it not only because it perfect for this purpose, but it will allow me to finish yet another UFO, maybe even soon.
