There are so many great new canvases from TNNA, I hardly know where to start. I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out a good approach, but all that comes to mind is “Potpourri.” So lets just think of this as a wonderful miscellany of needlepoint awesomeness.
Danji Designs has more delightful licensed canvases from Laurel Burch. These include a lovely set of six horses in a more subdued color palette. They still have her signature patterning, but the colors aren’t so bright. There is also a delightful duo of cats.
DJ Designs is continuing with their canvases inspired by traditional fabrics. One new canvas is a tea cozy done in a lovely blue-and-white Chintz pattern. The wide solid border means that you’ll be able to customize to the size you want. He also has some stunning and elaborate paisleys.
In addition to the Annie Lane canvases in Monday’s post, she also has added a new pears canvas. Patt and Lee has many new canvases including a tall and thin set of Halloween figures with a separate background. Leigh’s new series is called Jungle Heat and features exotic flowers against black and white background of large tropical leaves. Each canvas is named after a tropical island.
Tapestry Fair has a new and quite elaborate Day of the Dead canvas. Instead of the usual skull, it’s a woman in costume whose face has been made up to look like a skull. If you’re wondering, you can tell by the eyes, this “skull” has them. In addition, they have a bunch of new Easter eggs, several canvases, including a brick cover, featuring rock art, and six nesting doll canvases. The dolls are in one of three sizes all with similar backgrounds for the dresses and faces. Stitched together, they would make an impressive set.
The Elizabeth Turner Collection has a new series of dresses, 18 in all. Most of them are vintage-style evening dresses, but there is also a lovely oriental dress. They also have a new series of pillow-size big cat canvases, three in all, with the cats head against a soft sky blue background. Stitched in wool with silk for the background, they would be stunning in a living room. There are also some great new first Christmas mini-socks.
Sharon G, now distributed by Fleur de Paris, has some great new canvases. I particularly like her new series of round ornaments. They include a dragonfly and the eye of a peacock feather, as well as more graphic designs in several colors. She also has some new canvases with three vintage style vases on them. Also from Fleur there are new children and windows from Sandra Gilmore and a lovely new leaf canvas from Machele Somerville. Plus a new pickle jar canvas from dede I just love.
Raymond Crawford has lots more than his new Muses canvases. There are several designs based on vintage Christmas cards, new snowglobes (including one for Halloween), a lovely nativity, plus new additions to several of his popular series. I just loved the new cat & dog canvases from Pippin Studios. The show the animal at the kitchen door and are decorated with the pet’s thoughts: “Is it time to go out?”or “I want to go out.” They also have a wonderful coffee cup canvas.
Scott Church, distributed by CBK, has an elephant, complete with scarf and hat, in ice skates. Lani has a gorgeously detailed wine collage canvas, that has wine, bread, fruit and cheeses in a detailed and realistic style.
Pepperberry has lots of new Halloween ornaments in ovals, rounds, and squares. They also have lots of new picture frames. For several of their series they now have magnets to match. Needledeeva has a new series of patterned carrots, available as individual items, or in a canvas with all five.
JP Needlepoint has many new designs. My favorites are the Aesop’s Fables series. An illustration from the fable is surrounded by a black border that has the moral on it. The illustrations are charming, with an old-fashioned but still realistic look. They also have new series of kitties that are a simple shape with patterns on them. There is a series of owl ornaments for Christmas with a bit of a retro look. They have added eight new brick bags, as well as new jewelry box tops, and new purses.
& More has a series of triangle tray bottoms, plus lots of new sayings canvases. Zecca has a series of four somewhat more realistic woodland animals. There is also a series of different birds on quilt blocks, six in all, plus new paisleys, and a series of canvases with head vases in their signature style and bright colors. They also have a series of seven seasonal tall skinny canvases. With a design size of 2″ by 7″, there are plenty of places these will fit.
Cheryl Huckaby (CH Designs), distributed by Danji, has lots of new candy canes, new mini socks, and new ogee ornaments. There is also an adorable gingerbread house with matching tiny gingerbread men. Patti Mann has a stunning 3-D rooster. Squigee Designs has a new series of dog angels.
The Collection Designs has some stunning new bird canvases that look as if the bird is made out of candy canes and feathers. They are hard to describe, but stunning. They also have a charming new set of ice cream cones.
Dream House has new canvases based on Arts & Crafts tile, plus the new Fiori angels. They also have banners and rectangles based on Victorian toys as well as a series of seven very scary faces for Halloween. There are also some lovely flowing semi-abstract fish. Another set that’s hard to describe but wonderful in design.
Strictly Christmas has new full-size stockings that have images in borders, collage-style. These would be great projects for beginning stitchers. There are new Charley Harper canvases including wood ducks, owls, and puffins. Renaissance Designs has a series of mushrooms, both individual and as a group, in a more pastel version of their cheerful and bright color palette.
Have you found more than one canvas to love yet? I know I have. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow and Friday for more coverage. And check the coverage so far:
