From time to time there is a discussion on various needlepoint lists about nap and whether threads have it or not. And whether it makes a difference.
Trish Burr has written a blog post on an easy way to find the nap. It can be summed up easily — thread the oldest cut end.
This works great for threads on spools, cards, or in skeins. But what about threads such as some silk flosses that have doubled over skeins, or threads that are already cut.
Does anyone have a way to find nap on them?
A big shout out to Denise at Craft Gossip for finding this.
