This mini-sock uses three colors of Kreinik metallic ribbon to make a medallion in Hungarianpoint that accents a simple traditional Bargello pattern.
To make the mini-sock you will need:
- 8×10″ mono 18-mesh needlepoint canvas
- extra fine permanent pen made for marking fabric, such as SC-UF or Pigma Micron
- three spools on coordinating colors of Kreinik 1/16″ ribbon
- four colors of wool in one color family, Gloriana Lorikeet was used for the model
Begin by tracing the mini-sock template onto your canvas using the extra fine marker. Mark the center, it can be approximate, for the center of the medallion.
Using the diagram below stitch the medallion. The outside round is the darkest color. The second round is the middle color, the remaining rows are the lightest color. Only one quadrant of the central medallion is charted. Rotate the chart for the other quadrants. It is in three colors to make it easier to see.
Once the medallion is stitched, stitch the background in the Bargello pattern below shading from light to dark. If you are using Lorikeet use four strands from the nine-strand bundle.
