About this time last year I made my needlepoint resolutions for this year. To help me keep track I have been tracking my progress in the sidebar of this blog.
I haven’t met several of my goals, but where I’ve met them, I’ve really exceeded them. Let’s look at each one.
2016 Progress Report
23 projects from stash completed – goal 25: I might still make this one, I have more than enough projects started. The big issue is finding enough time to stitch
929 threads used up or gone (cleaning out stash) – goal 100: I decided to clean up my stash significantly. That meant getting rid of threads I don’t use, canvases I won’t stitch, books, and magazines. Some I sold through Fireside’s eBay shop. Another big pile I’m sending to my youngest daughter who is taking up embroidery.
Cleaning out my stash has opened up lots of space in my crammed studio. Now I’ll need to do a major reorganization so I can get rid of my second desk and move around better. But that’s for next year.
7 UFO’s finished – goal 6: My guild chapter always has this challenge. I have had some pieces on the list for many years. Last year I finished the most, a first for me, but this year I’m not going as fast as I would like. But I still met this goal!
50 finished finished projects – goal 15: My initial thought was to finish things myself. But then I realized that I could use the gift certificates I got from the consignment sales for finishing. It’s been wonderful! For a change I actually have the models for three upcoming books finished finished. And there are still about 10 or so still to arrive this year.
3 ebooks published – goal 2 print, 5 ebooks: I have not done as well with this as I hoped. The three ebooks are expanded, revised reformats of older books. One print book is in proofreading now. But I didn’t do well here.
What Wasn’t in the Resolutions
I did manage to stitch many new pieces (therefore not from stash). I had hoped not to buy many canvases this year and in that I failed uttterly. But since I have been cleaning out my stash, it is actually smaller right now than it was last year at this time.
2017 resolutions
Finish 5 UFO’s: These will be ones started by January 1.
Stitch 60 new needlepoint projects: Already on the schedule are 12 Mindy minis, 12 Shiny & Bright Ornaments, 12 Scrap Bag Quilts, and 4 25 Stitches Samplers. With three of these already stitched, that’s still the majority of stitching I’ll do. The UFO’s aren’t part of this total
Finish 1 big project: I mostly stitch small needlepoint, but I have one big one in progress and several large canvases I love in my stash. Maybe if I resolve to do one, I’ll get it finished.
Bring up Napa Needlepoint On-line Store; It’s the same deal here, if I say it publicly, maybe it will get done.
Finish one CyberPointers workshop: I have three and I’m registered for two more programs and will be registering for one more workshop. These are mostly big and it would be good to finsh some because I love them.
Publish 2 print books, have 1 print book in progress, and publish 2 ebooks: Maybe in 2017 I’ll do better.
