The needlepoint market has gotten so exciting that great new products show up all year long. That’s the good news; you’ll find plenty to love. The bad news is the damage it will do to your pocketbook.
Even so, you might find exactly the new project you seek.
Painted Canvas
Quail Run has a great totem pole stack of smiling pumpkins. dede Ogden has the most adorable small purses. They are mostly florals and are on 18-mesh. Each canvas includes a frame for finishing.
Hyla’s Needlearts has a very colorful 3-D Halloween witch. Her legs, arms, and body are packed with geometric patterns in Halloween colors. the collection has a wide variety of new canvases including two charming silhouette designs and an adorable patchwork pig.
Elizabeth Turner has introduced a new line of kids canvases, including an absolutely delightful black cat and an elephant. They also have a new series of swim trunks in patterns such as palm trees, shrimp, or crabs.
Melissa Prince Designs has an acrylic box that can be used for dog treats or cookies. With canvases painted to fit, you can self-finish and easily change them with the seasons. Susan Roberts has added a line of mini eggs on 18-mesh. They are only 2.5 inches high. These join an adorable blue baby elephant designed by Ashley Dillon.
Kelly Clark has added six new pears for Halloween to her line. Stitch guides are available for them. She has also added six snowman hats to her recently introduced hats ornament line. They have stitch guides by Laurie Walden.
Jean Smith has introduced a group of 14″ square canvases that feature close-ups of flowers. Squigee Deigns has a canvas with a plump back cat seen from the feet up.
j. child designs has a fun and funky flamingo glasses case with the head and neck on one side and the feet on the other. Another case has a giraffe head on one side and giraffe print on the other.
On 13-mesh, the finished size is 3×6.
Charted Projects & Threads
Brenda E. Kocher plans five colorways in her Celebration! series. The second, Autumn, features dark fawn, salmon, copper and terra cotta for a seasonal palette. The piece is designed for intermediate stitchers.
Joseph’s Coat is a charted design from Gone Stitching. With three available colorways the design includes Biblical interpretations of Joseph’s dreams. Lorene Salt is a wonderful stitcher in Canada and she’s brought out her first three charted needlepoint designs that combine brilliant colors and specialty stitches.
&More has introduced a new line of beads. The Charlotte bead is small and faceted for plenty of sparkle. Currently it comes in 20 colors. They also have drop beads in two different sizes. The smaller size is available in 37 colors, while the larger size is available in about 170 colors.
River Silks has added several new collections of ribbons that combine themed colors in one package. Embellishments Plus has three seasonal seed bead collections with four colors in each. Choose from Christmas Colors, Snow & Ice, or Precious Metals.
Gentle Art has new threads in several lines. The new wool colors are butterscotch and espresso bean. New sampler threads are terra cotta, amethyst, and cottage blue. These are joined by two new limited edition colors: creek bed and dark cavern.
Everything Else
Peepers is now making a foldable version of their popular glasses, perfect for traveling.
Sudberry has a new size in their Nantucket basket line — a letter box. The design area is 4×8. The box includes a black velvet pad on the inside for hidden storage.
Elizabeth Turner has added a new, bigger, size to their popular Needle Buddies. Their are 19 designs available.
