Are you looking for some fun new projects to start, especially if your Christmas stitching is finished? In the last month or so I have come across some lovely new needlepoint products I want to share with you.
Sally Corey has several lovely new canvases for JulieMar. There is a wonderful new series, called Arabesque. One canvas in the series has a round patterned medallion in two shades of blue against an asymmetrically divide patterned background. The other design features a small floral tile. You can get the single tile canvas in six different colors, each with the tile against a background that similar in structure but in different colors. A larger canvas with several of the tiles is available in two sizes.
Susan Roberts has added a new size to her stand-up nutcrackers. On 13 mesh, these figures are 18″ high. The company’s nutcrackers are now available in three sizes: 6″. 18″, and 30″. Kangaroo Paw has a wonderful series of key fobs for fraternities and sororities. They feature the Greek letters and come in a variety of patterns. You can also order these with non-Greek letters as well. For the Greeks they also have 3″ rounds with striped backgrounds and Greed letters.
Point2Pointe has a really intriguing canvas designed for teaching needlepoint. It has on it 10 painted 1″ squares. It’s available in six different color schemes and includes a stitch guide. The pieces can be finished once stitched in many of the company’s self-finishing items. This could be a wonderful basis for a class! They have added two new finishing options: key fobs and a bracelet that features the 1″ square designs.
Leigh Designs has added coaster size versions of their popular Baja series. Love You More has a trio of snowman canvases from Geoffrey Allen’s designs. They are available singly or as a group. The Artist’s Collection has added a delightful series of eight realistic dogs, all different breeds, in round ornaments.
Jean Smith has a series of single simple flowers, 35 in all, that are available in three sizes of squares: 14″, 8″, and 4″. Finding folks that will custom paint canvases for you can be difficult. Labors of Love now offers this service for pets. You can choose either a custom background or one from any of their pet portrait canvases. To get started they’ll need your background selection and a couple of photos.
Treenway Silks has added a six-strand silk floss, Harmony, to their line of threads. It is available in over 100 solid, naturally-dyed, and overdyed colors. Weeks has a charming new color of floss, Cherry Vanilla, which is just the refreshing combination you’d expect. A second new color is Granny Smith. Gloriana has added new colors to their silk flosses.
The lovely French needles from Bohin are now available to shops in bulk quantities. Unhappily this is true only for sizes 24, 26, and 28. This means soon your may be seeing them more often. Michele Ink, maker of silver needle minders, has come out with scissor fobs that combine a fob with a clever short laying tool.
Many designers are doing previews of their new products that will debut at the Dallas show in September. Jude Designs is debuting canvases of popular southern (mostly SEC) football stadiums. They will be expanding this series. & more will be bringing out four fancy dogs, including a dachshund, from SE Hagarman. They will be available in a variety of sizes. Also from & more is an American flag in a rustic style from French Graffiti.
Rainbow Gallery will be bringing out new colors for their Rainbow Persian and Twinkle threads. They have also added to the Silk Lame line so all 211 colors are available in all three sizes.
