As long as I’ve been needlepointing I have struggled with keeping to some sort of regular stitching goals. I’m a whiz at setting, and meeting, goals for a particular stitching session. But when it comes to setting something longer term, I have the memory of a goldfish and am as easily distracted as the dogs in UP!
So I struggle to finish things. I leave projects for months and sometimes for years.
This means I have baskets and drawers full of incomplete or planned projects. And this does not count the piles of canvases. I could stitch for 50 years and not finish everything.
I need help. A recent post on Mary Corbet’s Needle n’ Thread blog talked about different approaches to finishing the delayed project and how she is planning to accomplish finishing her project.
I think I’ll try it on my Mod Sampler but at a slower pace, maybe 2 squares a week.

I have the same problem. I set goals for the year, and then all these new canvases and designs show up that I MUST stitch immediately, then “immediately” turns into “some day I’ll finish it.” Your idea to stitch two squares a week is definitely a good one. I know a lot of cross stitchers who work a certain amount of hours each day or week on a project they want to finish, then they move on to other projects.
