Kreinik makes many kinds of metallic threads. They come in a wide variety of weights and colors.
Happily for us, their labeling is standard as is their packaging.
All Kreinik metallics come on black spools. Thicker threads come on this spool, which has an end with a slot for holding the thread end.

Thinner threads come on these spools. They have ends that expand so you can slip the thread end in to hold it securely.

Each thread has a label in a specific color. For example Tapestry braid, #12, has a blue label. The wonderful thing about this is that if you store your spools upright, it’s easy to tell sizes.
All labels contain the same information. A post on the Kreinik blog explains what these are.
The wonderful thing about Kreinik metallics is how consistent the colors are from size to size. That makes it very easy to mix sizes and construction of threads in a piece and still get a consistent look. Because their labels are also consistent, it’s easy to understand what’s in your stash.
