Barbara Elmore has teamed up with artist Carolyn Schmitz to stitch a needlepoint of this painting. While there’s plenty of needlepoint out there that is adapted from paintings and other art, what’s interesting about this project is that it’s a real collaboration.
Carolyn knows Barbara will be stitching it and has put elements in the painting, just because it will be interesting to stitch them.
This is not the first of Schmitz’ paintings Barbara has adapted. Her class at the recent EGA Seminar used another one. After the collaboration is done, Barbara will use elements from the painting on another canvas to be used in her classes, (I can hardly wait.)
Another of their collaborations is scheduled to be taught later this year at BeStitched.
Read all about the process in Carolyn’s post, Spines and Needles.
