Have you ever wished you could color your own silk ribbons? I know I have. I really like the look of ribbons when stitched, but often I would prefer 2mm ribbon, which is hard to find.
H Gotts on the blog JE Plus has a fantastic post on the incredibly easy method she uses to color her silk ribbons. Pretty much all you need is ribbon, silk paint/dye, some plastic wrap, and tweezers or chopsticks. Read her post to learn this easy method.
Then if you want to try it, go to my favorite dye supplier, Dharma Trading Company, to find silk dues and paints. They carry silk paints and dyes by Jacquard, seta, dye-na-flow, and many more.
They also carry 50-meter spools of 4mm silk ribbon and in other widths that are woven and ready-to-dye. They also have some tutorials for more complicated methods for coloring silk ribbon in several colors.
