My friend Lorraine of Colour Complements makes lovely thread from a wide variety of fibers, including many you didn’t expect, (reviewed here under the company’s previous name). Lately she’s been exploring their use in needlepoint by making a variety of stitch samples. On her blog she’s been sharing each sample, but now she has put them all together into this glorious and colorful sampler.
One of the things I like best about it, besides her yummy threads, is how it shows us just how lovely a spontaneous approach to needlepoint can be. She didn’t plan her colors from the start. She used what she had and was inspired by the color combinations in her threads.
It’s an approach quilters use often, but look how great it looks in needlepoint.
Lorraine has made us a PDF of the direction. It’s available free here.
