On the sampler this border is bright and sparkly with two colors of metallic. That can make it hard to coordinate with a needlepoint because the metallic draws attention to itself.
Don’t give up on it though, it’s a light and very flexible border. Stitch it in a single color of metallic for more subtle glitz, or just use metallic for the straight areas joining the links. Stitch it in a single color of non-metallic thread for a pretty border.
The lovely thing about this border is that it is stitched in one stitch, Cross Stitch over one thread, and that being open it doesn’t add much visual weight to the design. The links are small enough that you can make the border fit almost any canvas.
To make this border you will need:
- true metallic thread
- metallic or non-metallic in main accent color (model used metallic)
- non-metallic thread in secondary accent (model used Very Velvet)
Stitch the border as charted below using your three threads. This border will look best if it is centered.
Come back next week for another great border!
