By combining an easy-to-finish ground, plastic canvas, with this chic design, blogger Persia Lou has created an awesome project.
Needlepoint purses, especially evening and clutch bags have been popular since the Victorian period. But the difficulties and high cost of getting them finished deters many stitchers.
Plastic canvas comes to the rescue by letting you put together the bag yourself. The design features a background that looks like woven straw with bright flowers in two colors.
The things you might not like about Plastic Canvas are dealt with prettily. The bold woven background in black makes the larger mesh size an advantage instead of a problem. Picking a more luxurious worsted yarn can make the purse look custom and worth your effort stitching it.
The detailed tutorial gives you everything you need. Crocheted flowers are used here. If you don’t crochet you could use ribbon embroidery, stitches or even applique on already-made flowers.
Thanks to the folks at Craft Gossip for finding this great project!
