Before I get down to business, two recent articles have been updated with new information. The article showcasing Anna Pearson’s needleppoint videos has a new link, going to her post about making the videos.
I just got updated information about several great new products. Instead of saving them for later I have added them to the end of Monday’s article on new products.
If you have been stitching for awhile, you probably have learnred how to stitch a plaid (find basic instructions here). You may even have stitched some personalized plaids or even some tartans (buy my selections, including custom charts here). If you are like me though diagonal plaids such as argyles have defeated you.
Jane Wood has a marvelous article with instructions on stitching a diagonal plaid. Jane Gable created these instructions. They cover creating a unique plaid, but these instructions can be adapted to painted canvases using diagonal plaids.

i have a canvas with a charming arygyle plaid on it to be made into a bracelet. I’m going top try this method on that canvas. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Why can’t someone record a video of actually sewing a needlepoint plaid for those dummies like me that really need a visual explanation for creating a plaid. Always, creating a plaid has been a great impossibility for me since I do much better with actual visual explanations.
