With the Spring Online Needlepoint Show ending today, there are plenty of great new canvases (and more) to share with you.
Kirk & Bradley has added new travel rounds: Pebble Beach, Prague, Williamsburg, and others join the growing collection. They also have a new series of ski destination rounds. Finally, two compasses join the globe-trotting collection. They also have a series of five Russian nesting dolls. The two-sided canvases come in sizes from 2.5″ to 6.5″. You can choose from red or yellow. To go with them, there is also a pillow with 5 of the dolls in yellow.
The company has other series of two-sided canvas: nutcrackers and cone-shaped Santas. They have also added to their baubles ornaments and too their small decorated Christmas trees. Other new canvases include topiaries and nautical canvases in blue-and-white.
LauraLove Designs has several adorable series of triangular banners. You can find patriotic ones in red, white, and blue, a Christmas series proclaiming “Rejoice,” an outer space one, and more. The colorful Happy Birthday one is my favorite and would be a great stash-busting showcase of stitches for family celebrations.
Accoutrement Designs has added delightful snap trays to their line. The trays are 6″ squares when snapped. They are available in three colors, each with a different saying around the edge. They also have a new enameled needleminder of a cow available in brown or black with white. Upcoming magnets include a pink sugar skull and flamingos on vivid backgrounds, available in pink or gold. New to me are beaded scissor fobs with charms.
Diane Boworth’s lovely book Beards I Have Known is out with a second edition. Sandra Arthur’s newest small book also covers beards and mustaches. Kate Dickinson has added new colors to her popular dreidels. Plus, she has new Judaic bookmarks and bells. Also new to the designer are a ton of monogram crest canvases. They are approximately 9×7.5 and come in a wide variety of colors and styles.
Alt Stitchery, one of my favorites, has fantastic new word shape ornaments. For example, “Kiss me” is in the shape of lips. Jenny Henry has a ton of new canvases that finish into folded clutches. Vallerie Needlepoint Gallery has a new series of dog breed ornaments in 4″ rounds. The dog is in silhouette, while the background is split in half horizontally with two colors. As a lover of barn quilts, I’m crazy about Alice & Blue’s new quilted barn canvas, available in 13 or 18 mesh. For those who love to pick their own fruit, she has three new fruit baskets. Choose from blueberries, apples, or strawberries. She also has added a few enamel needleminders to her line.
Coming this fall from CBK are adorable mid-sized stockings with cats or dogs on solid-colored backgrounds. There are also new license plates for “My Happy Place” with the names of towns as the number. In July, two crab purse canvases with salmon crabs on aqua and white stripes will be available. One is a panel and the other a fold-over clutch. Also coming in the fall are a brick cover and a crescent moon adorned with charming birds in great patterns and colors..
New from A Stitch in Time are adorable couples in national dress. Each country has a boy and a girl available. There are a dozen countries available in the 6″ high figures. The company has also expanded its selection of realistic children at play as well as their simple animal heads that would be great decorations for a nursery. Blueberry Point is a new designer. They have charming seasonal cottage rounds, along with a popular Mr. Peanut ornament. The company also has an extensive collection of egg canvases, including Faberge-style, blue-and-white Chinoiserie ones, and a slew of lovely florals. If you collect egg canvases, be sure to check these out.
In the world of charted canvas, Finger Step has some great new project packs. Juxtaposition has your choice of four designs in a bold combination of black, white, and red. Each design is under 4″ square and features many different stitches. I like their Art Deco vibe. Also new from Finger Step are packs of shaded numerals and bold, blocky letters. The letters are available singly. Finger Step has expanded into a line of hand-painted canvases. These include several belts as well as canvas versions of several of their designs.
Kelly Clark has a new series of monthly Ssntas. Also new from the designer are a new sampler and a charming fruit & flower folk art canvas in bright colors on black. Zodiac signs adorn the new glasses cases from Doolittle. The same designs are also available as round ornaments. Zodiac signs also can be found on a series of bright pillows. The company also has new rounds and squares for beach and ski destinations as well as for new cities and countries.
New from Blue Ridge is a Christmas stocking featuring mammals and birds typically found along the Appalachian Trail. They have also created a green version of their iconic Blue Ridge panel. A wooden bridge is the focus of their rainbow bridge rounds. Five different dog breeds are currently available. A lovely enamel needleminder has the Blue Ridge Mountains superimposed on a dogwood blossom.
I’ll be continuing my coverage of new items from needlepoint companies next Thursday as well as next week on Monday and Thursday.
