I used Rainbow Gallery’s Capri 18 for the bottom white stripe on this Indian Corn from My Pink Sugar Life. The company describes the thread as “Matte finish which is a nice contrast to shinier threads. Slight twist use, as-is off the card, no need for stranding or laying tool.”
It is 100% polyester and comes on cards with 20 yards on them. Currently, there are 54 colors, including several fluorescents. It is a single-strand four-ply thread. This thread has a look that not only is matte, but also creates a contrast to the more traditional threads around it.
My plan for this piece is to use Persian wool for the brown and Flair for the orange so the contrast here will be a nice visual break. In the past, I have stayed away from threads of this type, but I found I liked the look here.
Capri is easy to use. I had no trouble threading the needle and it worked well for both Cross Stitches (the scallops) and diagonal stitches (the stripe). It might be a bit thin for straight stitches, but I will test this out in the next stripe. Because the thread seemed to be a bit thick, I was concerned about whether it would stay when pulled through the back of the stitching. I had no problems with this. I did not use a waste knot with this piece but I don’t expect any problems.
There is one fault with this thread, it comes untwisted in the tail. I did not find this to be a problem, but some stitchers might find this a problem. If you need to rethread your needle, you will need either to use a threader or moisten the. threads.
While I won’t be using this thread often, it’s a good thread to have available.
