Today’s stitch is a recent one from Whimsical Stitches. I liked the different textures in this stitch so much I wanted to share it with you. Three stitches make it up, Diagonal Gobelin, Tent, and Three-stitch Cross. Each is made in a column and they rotate. I prefer Three-stitch Cross to the original Smyrna Cross because it sits a bit lower but looks the same. To emphasize the direction of the columns, the third stitch is vertical.
Mixed Columns is a stripe but not an obvious one. It has a varied texture that will work beautifully for backgrounds when stitched in a single color. The diagram is in three colors to make the stitches easier to distinguish.
I wanted a quick fix to stitch. This canvas is an insert from Oasis Needlepoint. It will be a quick stitch on 13-mesh canvas. I used Felicity’s Garden in 019 Deep Blue Green.
