My DH is a huge fan of YouTube. I’ll be sitting in my studio and I’ll hear him chuckling upstairs. Inevitably it’s because he’s found a cool YouTube clip and he’ll send me a link.
That’s all well and good, but YouTube is also amazing for teaching things. Needlepoint Now has done the needlepoint community a great service with their extensive library of short videos demonstrating how to make different stitches.
YOu can find the whole library here.
Currently there are 27 of them, ranging from the common (Brick Stitch) to the uncommon and complex (Bullion Knot, Turkeywork).
Each video is short and silent. The stitch is introduced with a title shown on the screen and then, with clear close-up filming, the method to make the stitch is shown.
Each video is long enough to give you a good idea of how to make the stitch. While a simple stitch might have a video off 20-40 seconds. a complex stitch might have one of over a minute. The only video longer than 2 minutes is the one for spiderweb.
This is a great use of today’s technology and a superb resource!
