One of the easiest items to finish yourself is the Lee (LNA) Display Box. Made of leather in black or white. It has a brushed nickel magnetic closure. The lid is hinged and attached to the base with a ribbon on one side. It’s lined in matching leather, making for an elegant box. The lid fits snugly on the base. The outside measurements are 7.5×9 and the box is 3″ high. The opening is 5×6, fitting Lee’s BG canvases.
It makes a wonderful gift.
Here’s how to finish it.
- Remove the leather back and the insert with the double-side adhesive from the box, below.
- Remove the covering from the adhesive and center your blocked needlepoint on it, below. Press down all over to make the adhesive permanent.
- Place the needlepoint face out into the opening in the box, below.
- Place the leather back behind the needlepoint and turn the plastic tabs over the insert backing to secure, below.
Should you wish to make additional needlepoint inserts for the box, it’s easy to do this. You’ll need lightweight card (for example, a cereal box (often called chipboard) and two-sided adhesive sheets. Using your existing inset as a template, cut out the new cardboard and the adhesive to this size. Trim the adhesive 1/8″ smaller all around. Alternately, you could trim 1/4″ off two adjacent sides.
Remove the covering from one side of the adhesive and center it on the cardboard’s unprinted side. Press down to secure. It’s now ready to have the needlepoint added to it, following the instructions above.
