The small and delightful Kathy Schenkel word canvases are so much fun to stitch! This week I began Blessings. I love that they are such a perfect place to show off background ideas. I apologize that I do not have a picture but my desktop Internet has been down since Friday evening & the picture is there!
This stitch is so easy that you could use it on your very first project. All you need to know is how to stitch Continental. Basketweave won’t work here because the stitches are in straight lines.
It’s a variation of a stitch I found on Whimsical Stitch, I call it Quadrille, below. Both stitches have alternating rows of four stitches. I wanted my stitch to be more open, making it better for backgrounds. I left one open thread between each of the lines of stitching.
The first time I used this stitch I stitched the design first, then did the background. I discovered it is significantly easier to place the lines if you stitch the background first.
