While there are many books on needlepoint Bargello out there, it often seems as if many of our projects seem a bit tired. That’s unfortunate because, even if you avoid four-way Bargello, there are plenty of cool effects you can create with basic Bargello lines and shapes.
I love to find and try these effects, preferably in small enough pieces that I don’t get bored, even if I don’t like them much (this rarely happens).
The ornament-sized bell is perfect for this. They are big enough to show an effect well, but not so big you can’t finish them easily, often using thread from your stash. You learn the design, but you end up with something delightful for your tree or a wreath.
The Bargello Bell series originally ran as a series here and now I’ve just made it available, under one cover, as an ebook. It’s available in the Napa Needlepoint store on Etsy.
Included in the book are charts, many in color, for all the bells, material lists, and complete instructions. Also included are instructions for stitching Bargello and for choosing color schemes. The bell template included in the book means that you’ll be able to create your own patterns.
As a special introduction to readers of this blog you can get a 20% discount on the book until October 7. Just put the book in your cart to get the discount!
Next year there will be a second series of bells running here during the summer. With this book you’ll have the start of a wonderful collection that will only get better as it grows!
Get your copy today and have some bells stitched before ornament finishing deadlines next month (they’re that easy)!
