Have you ever thought that your needlepoint could use a bit of glitz either on the edge or within the design? Have you wished that instead of static beaded fringe, you could add fringe that swung free?
This illustrated tutorial from Sew Quickly has instruction for 8 types of beaded edging and fringe. Yes, the tutorial is aimed at adding edging to cloth and clothes, but you can adapt these techniques to needlepoint. To make edging, just fold over the raw edges of the canvas and treat it like a stiff fabric edge. To add fringe inside the design, treat the top of the fringe as the fabric edge. If you do this, however, remember s=to stitch under where the fringe goes so bare canvas does not show when the fringe moves.
