Having passed one deadline, I need rest before the next two (over the next ten days) overtake me. Today I’m dedicating the day to stitching & finishing two things.
First, I’m going to finish up the Kathy Schenkel hummingbird ornament I’m stitching for my DH. I have a bit of the bird to finish and I need to add the red dots in the background. Then I can finish it in its frame next weekend.
Second will be a Pippin crow that’s my son’s Christmas ornament. You may think crows & hummingbirds are odd ornaments, but we have lots of both here. My husband loves hummingbirds so that’s good for him. The crows here, of which there are many, are so bold our family refers to them as “the mayor & city council.” My son wants them to plunge deeper into our neighborhood to keep the pigeons and swallows from nesting.
Next is St. Joseph, which I’ll start. I am going to make the shepherd crook into a lantern on a pole. That will keep the figure centered but get rid of the shepherdiness.

We have lots of crows here in San Diego. Every evening a large swarm of them (I know a large group of them is called a “murder of crows” but I don’t really like that term!) fly through our canyon on the way to their resting spot for the night. Some days there are hundreds!! I rarely see, or hear, them return in the morning. Perhaps they take a different route in the morn, or I am still sleeping. We also host 10 or so hummers to our feeder. We go through about 3 cups of the juice a day. Hope your fellas enjoy their ornaments.
Enjoy the holidays.
