Every time I talk with stitchers, I hear frustration. They love the canvases, they buy them, and want to stitch them. Maybe they even buy the threads.
Sometimes they get “stitch guides” from shops or designers that are not appropriate for the canvas, are incomplete, illegible, or inappropriate. You’d be frustrated too. This has happened to me with arecent stitch guide I tried to use to stitch a model for a shop. It didn’t match the canvas as painted, and it was incomplete.
This doesn’t do any of us any good. The stitcher feels as if her money has been wasted. The shopowner doesn’t want to stock the guide or take the time to develop a good guide if it doesn’t sell.
Quite simply, I want to change all that. I love hand-painted needlepoint canvases, and I love the dialog that comes from the designer putting something on the canvas and the stitcher bringing it to life and adding her own vision.
I want to help make that possible for you and make it affordable enough and useful enough that you will love the result, be happy with the investment and learn something you can use in other projects.
I meet you where you are and take into account your skill level, likes, and dislikes, and your ideas about the canvas. I know hand-painted needlepoint canvases and threads can be a significant investment, so I will work with you to use them. Whether you need a full guide, described below, or help with just parts of the canvas, I can help you
In my guides, you get:
- complete materials lists
- stitch diagrams
- explanations of techniques
- tips & ideas you can use elsewhere
Best of all the guides are affordable, starting at $75. The cost of the stitch guide depends on the complexity of the canvas. I always quote you a firm price for the guide. In addition for stitchers that need thread & stitch suggestions for specific areas I offer Quick Stitch Help for $5 per area (max 5 areas/canvas). You can use the same form to request this.
Unlike those who only provide complete and expensive guides, I’ll always let you know whe Quich Stitch Help is what you need. You submit the form, I’ll do the rest.
You can get a no cost, no obligation quote for a guide by visiting my new custom stitch guidesform.
Let’s make a beautiful canvas together!

Oh, Janet, I am soooo happy to see you add this link! The stitch guide that you did for me is simply fantastic and I cannot wait to start working on the project (I’m still gathering a few threads). I have so many lovely canvases that intimidate me, but with your stitch guides, I can stitch ’em right into submission!
Your suggestions are spot on, the explanations are crystal clear, and you really got what I was trying to accomplish with the piece. Thank you!
Woo Hoo!

Your consultation and stitch guide suggestions on my two projects were all I needed to go ahead with confidence. Your stitch suggestions were made after listening to my likes, dislikes as well as my vision of how the final piece should look. Sometimes we are stopped in our tracks by wondering what stitch, thread or color to put in a specific spot to achieve the look we want. Other times we worry on whether two adjacent stitches might compete. Whether it is a private consultation or a mailed stitch guide. you provide a welcome and much appreciated service, Janet. Thank you.

I have a printed copy of a babushka doll pattern from wee folks website that I would love to do as a simple needlepoint and possibly add some little embellishments. I would like to make it for my 3 young gand daughters. So one chart that I could use colors that I could mix and match. My 5 yr old grandbaby loves purple so I thought I would start with her colors first. This chart from wee folks I have done in felt but on am now exploring needlepoint. 🙂 I do lots of counted cross stitch and decided to do a simple cross stitch crazy quilt heart and will embellish when I am done. I drew the heart copying from possibilties site and started from there. Do you need me to fax the pattern to you? Please reply when you can,
thank you, Marilyn
